Job Description: Operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair a variety of shipboard equipment to include electric motors and con- trols, diesels, pumps and compressors, refrigeration plants, high-pressure boilers and steam turbines. Specifically responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of the ship?s boiler and the fuel oil system. Responsible for fuel oil transfer and all boiler operations. Responsible for daily maintenance of the ship?s boiler; to supervise daily testing of boiler water. Assisting the Chief Engineer in the supervision, opera-tion, maintenance and repair of all machinery, equipment, piping, electrical systems, controls in the engine room, and other areas supervised by the ship's Engineering and deck departments Maintaining records of machinery repaired and invento- ry of consumed stores, liquid supplies, and spare parts; preparing machinery for annual inspection by the United States Coast Guard and American Bureau of Shipping Planning the cadet maintenance and repair work sched- ules Serving as a liaison to various agencies and business-es. Working directly with the Cadet shipboard training pro- gram, and those assigned to administer the program. 2nd Tug Mate Quali? cations: ?
