Navy ABS To Class LCS ABS will class the U.S. Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). by apply- ing technical Rules and standards estab- lished in its newly developed Naval Vessel Rules. DRS Technologies Wins Aircraft Carrier Contract DRS Technologies won a $5.6 million contract to continue to design advanced propulsion steam turbines for the U.S. Navy's next-generation CVN-78 class of aircraft carriers. The ANZAC ship program is a collaboration between Australia and New Zealand, and involves the con- struction of 10 new ANZAC class frigates - eight for the RAN and two for the Royal New Zealand Navy. The 387.1 ft. (118-m) ANZAC frigates are based on the MEKO 200 platform design for worldwide opera- tion under climatic and oceanographic conditions ranging from tropical to sub- arctic. built by Tenix Defence Pty Ltd. at the Williamstown shipyard. The contract value is more than S4 million and includes refurbish- ment and upgrades of all engines to a configuration that demonstrated improved reliability and performance in a previous one-year test.
