Moran Towing Promotes Three Moran Towing has announced three management promotions at its Jack- sonville, Fla. location, beginning with Donald J. Peck, who has been appoint- ed Southern Regional vice president. Peck previously served as Moran's Jack- sonville port manager for the past 12 years. Thomas W. Craighead was pro- moted to general manager of Moran Towing of Florida. Replacing Peck as port manager at Jacksonville, Craighead most recently served as general manag- er of Moran's Petroleum Transport Cor- poration (PETCO) Southeast Division. Gregg Goldie will assume the position of operations manager at Petroleum Transport Corporation. Goldie has been with PETCO since 1999 at the start-up of the FPL contract. Transas Navi-Sailor 2400 Now Used By USCG The U.S. Coast Guard recently issued an All Coast Guard message that sanc- tions the use of the Transas NaviSailor 2400 ECDIS for paper-less navigation. This new policy applies to U.S. Coast Guard vessels less than 1,600 gt includ- ing the two new classes of Buoy Ten- ders. Medium Endurance Cutters, and Coastal Patrol Boats. The Transas Navi-Sailor 2400 is installed onboard the U.S. Coast Guard Mako Class (WPB 87) coastal patrol boat. The U.S Coast Guard established this new policy guidance to deal with differ- ent types of electronic chart systems that have been installed and used onboard USCG cutters for several years. This includes both ECDIS and less capable Electronic Chart Systems (ECS). Col- lectively, the USCG refers to these types of systems as Electronic Charting and Integrated Navigation System (ECINS). This designation pertains to both gov- ernment-developed and commercial electronic charting systems.
