The USS Missouri was unquestionably the most important battleship in the U.S. Navy's arsenal. In addition to providing fire power in World War II and the Persian Gulf War, it was on these decks where General Douglas MacArthur signed the peace treaty ending the hostilities between the U.S. and Japan. The "Mighty Mo" is now retired, and Crowley Marine Services was chosen to take it to its final berth. Towing an 887' historic battleship with a 149' tug from Bremerton, Washington to Astoria, Oregon and then on to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was a monumental job of logistics. But, doing seemingly impossible jobs well is why we were chosen. Crowley's 149' "Sea Victory" is one of three Crowley tugs of this class, among the largest in the world, specifically designed for ocean-going tows. The 7,200 horsepower tug carries nearly 200,000 gallons of fuel and seven highly skilled crew members. Making history has always been a Crowley tradition.
