Raytheon Wins U.S. Navy Ship-To-Shore Deal Raytheon Systems Co. was awarded an initial $9.5 million contract for ship-to-shore data communications by the U.S. Navy, the first stage in a potential multi- year contract that could be worth more than $400 mil- lion. The contract covers the Navy's extremely high fre- quency follow-on terminals, which provide low and medium data-rate shipboard satellite communications. The contract includes options for additional ship and shore terminals, training and life-cycle support valued in excess of $400 million. These terminals, configured for installation on many types of Navy combat ships and shore sites, will serve as the basis for the U.S. Navy's information technology of the 21st century effort, Raytheon said.
