TECHNOLOGY IRIS: New Concept For Multipurpose Catamaran The InteR Island Shuttle (IRIS) project is a new multipurpose catama- ran concept — meant for relatively short distances (maximum four hours sailing) for the transportation at sea of passengers, containers or eventu- ally, special cargo. Developers laud the vessel's high speed and flexibility, which allow it to fit the needs of most any operator. Following are some specifications for the next-generation vessel.
