Canadian Pacific Acquires Cast Canadian Pacific Ltd. announced that it had reached agreement in principle to acquire the container shipping business of The Cast Group Ltd. as a going concern. Comple- tion of the transaction is subject to a due diligence review and the con- sent of the relevant regulatory au- thorities. Closing is expected to occure on or before October 31. The acquisition will evidently strengthen Canadian Pacific's po- sition in the North Atlantic con- tainer trade, where it is already a significant force through its owner- ship of Canada Maritime. Canada Maritime Limited is a Bermudian-registered shipping company, 100 percent owned by Canadian Pacific Ltd., a Canadian transportation, energy, real estate and industrial group.
