The unique, hydraulically-installed OK shaft couplings come ready-made in a wide spectrum of metric and inch sizes - for shafts from 25 mm (.984") to 1000 mm (39.370). But when our customers want special couplings for unusual applications, we custom-engineer the product to their needs. For instance, Sulzer RT diesel engines are fitted with shorter-than-standard OK couplings to connect the camshafts. And on MAN diesels, OK couplings not only connect the camshafts but are machined to form the cams themselves. Now that is custom-design for you. In future Newsgrams from 0VAK0, we'll tell you of other special applications and adaptations of the versatile OK shaft couplings. Let us help you solve your problems. Call us. Versatile Pacific Shipyards Inc., Victoria, B.C., Canada, recently delivered the medium- endurance, search and rescue patrol vessel Es- quimalt to the Canadian Coast Guard. The 164-foot-long by 36-foot-wide Esquimalt is of fully molded form, and has a single contin- uous main deck with a fully enclosed, raised forecastle deck extending from aft of midships forward. The superstructure consists of a single tier deckhouse, with the wheelhouse above, flanked by twin exhaust casings. The vessel has a transom stern with notched stern ramp for launch and recovery of a fast rescue boat. The vessel is twin-screw, powered by two pair of medium-speed diesel engines, each driving through a twin input/single output reduction gear to a controllable pitch propeller. The vessel is of all-welded steel construction, with the exception of a wheelhouse and masts which are of welded aluminum alloy construc- tion.
