New Paint Factory For Sigma In Amsterdam Sigma Coatings BV has an- nounced plans to build a new paint factory and technological center in Amsterdam. The factory will be situated on a 32.5-acre site in the industrial har- bor area on the west side of the city. Sigma has an option to expand onto another 30 acres. Over 129,000 square feet are de- signated for the building of the pro- duction plant, which will provide a capacity of 50,000 tons of paints. The new factory will facilitate the production of an extensive assort- ment of high-tech products, includ- ing the new generation of water- borne protective coatings. The new arrangement will also help to smooth the transition of a product as its production goes from laboratory-scale to full plant output levels. Research groups working on industrial lacquers, marine paints, construction paints, building and DIY products, as well as color and pigmentation, will support depart- ments such as an analystic laborato- ry, physical laboratory and process automation.
