GIVING NAnONALDEFENSE A BIG LIFE Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71), the first air- craft carrier built making extensive use of modular construction, was commissioned 16 months before contract delivery date, saving the U.S. Navy and American taxpayers over $80 million. Abraham Lincoln (CVN72) and George Washington (CVN73) are the next two aircraft carriers being built through modular construction.
