MES Delivers Car Carrier 'Maersk Sun' To Singapore Owner Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) recently completed the vehicle carrier Maersk Sun at the MES Tamano Works and delivered the vessel to her owner, Maersk Com- pany (Singapore) Pte. She is the second of two sister ships ordered by the Maersk Company. The first of the two ships, Maersk Sea, was com- pleted last year. The Maersk Sun has an overall length of about 517 feet, molded breadth of 88 V2 feet, and draft (full load) of 23 V2 feet. The main engine is a Mitsui-MAN B&W 5L70MC diesel (1 set) with a maximum continuous output of 12,200 hp at 95 rpm producing a speed of 20.4 knots. Classifi- cation is Lloyd's Register of Shipping.
