The entire student body at Webb Institute is on full scholarship, and the students rank among the best in engi- neering colleges in the United States. They complete 147 credit hours in the four year program, including a thesis. Webb Institute, through its research center, also conducts sponsored research work for the maritime industry. The sponsors consist of government agencies (Martime Admin- istration, Navy, Coast Guard), private corporations, and small businesses. The research is accomplished by faculty mem- bers with support from research assistants and technicians. The professor of Naval Architecture is expected to conduct classroom instruction in: basic naval architecture, ship de- sign, and ship production. In addition, he or she is expected to participate in scientific research or engineering projects, and to be active in the affairs of professional organizations. Applicants must hold a M.S. degree in science orengineer- ing. Either the M.S. or the B.S. must be in naval architecture. In addition, applicants should have experience in: college level teaching, ship design, and shipbuilding. Salary and benefits are competitive and will be based on applicant's ex- perience.
