On July 29, 1983 the Government of Canada signed a $ 3,83 billion contract with SaintJohn Shipbuilding Limitedfor 6 new City Class frigates for its Maritime Command. Saint John Shipbuilding is committed to mana- ging. designing, building, and delivering the 6 new frigates by 1992, fully-equipped, tested, and with trained crews. These ships will meet Canada's domestic requirements for security and its NATO obligations. The yard is also active in the new and growing offshore business in Canada. They have delivered an AkerH-3-2 rig to Canadian interests.
