Advanced Technology Gets $6.9-Million Navy Contract For Software Engineering Advanced Technology Incorpo- rated, Reston, Va., has been awarded a $6,945,954 cost-plus- fixed-fee Navy contract for combat system level software engineering for CG, CGN, and DDG class ships. Work will be performed in Reston, and is expected to be completed in September 1987. Contract funds would not have expired at the end of the current fiscal year. Thirty-three bids were solicited and three pro- posals were received. This contract combines purchases for the U.S. Navy (75 percent) and for Japan (11 percent), Australia (7 percent), Ger- many (4 percent), Saudi Arabia (2 percent), and Spain (1 percent) un- der the Foreign Military Sales pro- gram. The Naval Sea Systems Com- mand, Washington, D.C., is the con- tracting activity (N00024-85-C- 7035). Rockwell Offers Brochure On Autonetics Division's Products And Capabilities Rockwell International is offering a free brochure on the products and capabilities of the Autonetics Ma- rine Systems Division headquar- tered in Anaheim, Calif. Long recog- nized for its leadership in submar- ine navigation, the division in more recent years has also developed ex- tensive and unique capabilities in ships signal processing, control sys- tems, and systems integration. The 28-page brochure contains a brief description of Rockwell Inter- national, followed by a review of the Autonetics Marine Systems Divi- sion navigation history from 1950, when Autonetics-designed equip- ment proved the practicality of iner- tial navigation in the nation's first test of that technology, through the next-generation system for attack- class submarines—the Electrostatic Gyro Navigator (ESGN), which en- tered production in 1980. Subsequent sections of the publi- cation deal with the Submarine Simulation Facility—an invaluable tool in the design of ship controls and displays, formation of control station concepts, evaluation of man- in-the-loop performance, and train- ing of control station operators; par- ticipation with the Navy in develop- ment of undersea warfare systems, ranging from sophisticated acoustic signal processing equipment and in- tegrated sonar systems to portable tactical ranges and complete under- sea platforms and vehicles; the Shipboard Data Multiplex System (SDMS), developed under Navy contract; smooth and effective inte- gration of diverse and increasingly complex electronic systems into new modern ships to provide effective command and control; and ocean engineering. Crawford Fitting Company of So- lon, Ohio, has recently introduced SWAGELOK "QT" series quick- connects which are designed for cor- rosive and other severe service ap- plications. The new design incorporates a single-end or double-end shut off system which allows higher flow ca- pacity than other available quick coupling devices. The unit also of- fers high pressure capability, up to 5,000 psi. Outstanding chemical resistance is achieved through a unique combi- nation of all 316 stainless steel con- struction, including springs and seals made of TFE compounds. Built to withstand rough han- dling, the "QT" design emphasizes safety. A safety release button, built into the front body sleeve, provides protection against accidental un- coupling. Extremely low air inclu- sion and spillage is another impor- tant factor. The new quick-connects are cur- rently available with a choice of Swagelok or NPT end connections.
