In announcing the Marine Section Program, general chairman Fox noted that the group is holding its convention in conjunction with the NSC's Safety Congress and Exposi- tion, which has taken place in Chi- cago annually since 1912. The Marine Section is the largest group in the United States maritime industry devoted to safety. As one of 28 industrial segments of the Na- tional Safety Council, it coordinates and helps disseminate information in the marine industry field through meetings, publications, training programs, films and other means. Organizations participating in its activities include American Insti- tute of Merchant Shipping, Ameri- can Institute of Marine Underwrit- ers, Lake Carriers' Association, Na- tional Cargo Bureau, New York Maritime Association, New York Shipping Association, Pacific Mari- time Association, Shipbuilders Council of America, American Wa- terways Operators, Inc., the Mari- time Administration of the U.S. De- partment of Transportation, Mili- tary Sealift Command of the De- partment of Defense, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Henschel Promotes John Carter To George U. Curry, president of Henschel Corporation, a unit of General Signal, Newburyport, Mass., has announced the promo- tion of John R. Carter to vice president—advanced programs. Mr. Carter has held a succession of engineering positions at Henschel since 1960. His most recent position was director of advanced programs. He has an Electrical Engineering degree from Lowell Technological Institute. He is a member of ASNE and SNAME, and is a member of The Marine Transportation Com- mittee of IEEE. He is also a member of the Society of Automotive Engi- neers and serves on its Aerospace and Avionics subcommittee AE-9C on Fiberoptic Data Busses; and serves on the Marine Systems and Technology Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Henschel Corporation is a recog- nized leader in the design, develop- ment and manufacture of the ship control and interior communication equipment and systems. Goodyear Offers New 30-Page Book On Hydraulic Components Goodyear, Akron, Ohio, is offer- ing a 30-page booklet to help its fluid power customers interchange Anchor Swan part numbers to Goodyear's line of Instacouple hy- draulic hose components. Goodyear acquired the hydraulic hose coupling and assembly busi- ness of Anchor Swan Corporation last year. A Goodyear subsidiary, Hose Couplings Manufacturing, Inc., produces metal fittings for the company's line of hydraulic and in- dustrial hose, as well as complete hydraulic hose assemblies. HCMI operates manufacturing facilities in Menominee, Mich, and Dixon, 111.
