In November 1982, the Navy awarded the first TAO to Avon- dale and took an option through the fall of 1984 for up to four additional TAOs. The Navy re- tains its option on the remaining three ships. Both vessels will be built at Avondale's main yard, near New Orleans, La., and construction of the two ships will begin in 1984, with the delivery of the first TAO scheduled for early 1986 and the second, four months later. The contracts provide for es- calation related to costs of labor and materials. $4.9-Million Increase To LCAC Support Contract Awarded To Bell Textron Bell Aerospace Textron, New Orleans, La., has been awarded a $4,908,760 face-value-increase to a previously awarded cost- plus-fixed-fee contract for a mod- ification increasing the level ef- fort for Navy systems trials sup- port for the Jeff Craft in support of the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) program. Work will be performed at New Orleans (6 per- cent) and in Panama City, Fla. (94 percent). The Naval Sea Sys- tems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N00024-81-C-2062).
