Name Mclngvale Regional Marketing Manager For Golden Gulf Marine Ralph C. Mclngvale Golden Gulf Marine Operators, Inc., a New Orleans-based off- shore service vessel operator, re- cently announced the appoint- ment of Ralph C. Mclngvale to the position of regional market- ing manager for the Houston and Gulf Coast area. In his new position, Mr. Mc- lngvale will be responsible for the marketing of Golden Gulf's 18 new 180-foot supply vessels, sev- en 110-foot utility boats, and five crewboats which range from 65 feet to 100 feet in length. Mr. Mclngvale comes to Golden Gulf Marine with experience in marketing and vessel operations. He was previously a senior mar- keting representative with Gulf Fleet Marine Corporation based in the Houston area. Elect Galloway To Board Of Maritime Exchange Edward J. Desher, president of The Philadelphia Maritime Ex- change, has announced the elec- tion of John R. Galloway to the board of directors. Mr. Galloway is the public affairs director, Eastern region, for Gulf Oil Cor- poration. He fills a vacancy left by the resignation of Capt. Klaus Matthes, manager of U.S. opera- tions for Gulf Trading and Trans- portation Company. Captain Mat- thes has been transferred to Houston, Texas. CP Propeller Order To Tacoma Boat/Escher Wyss For Alaska Patrol Vessel Tacoma Boat / Escher Wyss, Tacoma, Wash., a subsidiary of Tacoma Boatbuilding Company, was recently awarded a $336,175 contract by Nichols Bros. Boat Builders, Inc., Freeland, Wash, to supply two 60-inch-diameter, Tacoma Boat/Escher Wyss con- trollable-pitch propellers for the state of Alaska fisheries patrol vessel. The vessel, designed by Jensen Maritime Consultants, Inc., for- merly B.F. Jensen and Associates of Seattle, Wash., has an overall length of 121 feet 6 inches, a molded breadth of 28 feet and a depth of 12 feet 6 inches. Designed for a cruising speed of 15 knots, the vessel is pow- ered by two Detroit Diesel model 16V-149 TI marine engines cou- pled to Reintjes model WAY 1050 modified marine reduction gears with a 3.5:1 reduction ratio. Tacoma Boat/Escher Wyss also has under contract eight control- lable-pitch propellers to be in- stalled on four twin-screw, 245- foot patrol chaser missile vessels (PCG) for the U.S. Navy, and eight controllable-pitch propellers for four twin-screw, 270-foot me- dium endurance cutters (WMEC) for the U.S. Coast Guard. Extensive testing of the first shipset of PCG propellers has been successfully completed. These propellers, 9 feet in diam- eter, and designed to absorb 11,500 horsepower each at 350 rpm, have been spin tested for 300 hours continuously at various speed increments up to 385 rpm. The WMEC propellers, also 9 feet in diameter, and rated for 3,500 horsepower at 260 rpm, have a requirement of spin test- ing only the first shaft line with the remaining systems to be func- tionally tested. Testing on these propellers has been ongoing over the past several months. The test facility included in the operations is capable of spin testing propellers up to 16 feet in diameter at rated speed, and with maximum weights of ap- proximately 400,000 pounds. The Alaska fisheries patrol ves- sel CP propellers are scheduled for delivery in April of 1982. The pier is provided with a full range of utilities including electric power for ship and welding usage as well as lines for high pressure steam, oxygen, acetylene compressed air, natural gas, fresh and sea water and a 65 ton gantry crane.
