RCA Opens Marine Services Office In Morgan City, La. RCA Service Company has an- nounced the opening of a marine services office at 102 Freret Street, Morgan City, La. The of- fice, which will cover the port city of Houma as well as Morgan City, will serve as a sales, in- stallation, and service center for the leading brands of navigation and communications equipment. Equipment lease plans and fixed- price maintenance contracts will also be offered. Weldon M. Vogt, manager of in- dustrial electronic services sales, said that the new office is intend- ed to serve both the offshore oil industry and Intracoastal Water- way traffic. It will complement RCA's five other port facilities on the Gulf, at Corpus Christi, Hou- ston, Mobile, Port Arthur, and the New Orleans office in Gretna. Mr. Vogt added that much of the traffic out of Morgan City is head- ed up the Mississippi past Mem- phis, the location of another RCA marine services office. Hans Schaefer Succeeds Arthur Stout As President Of Todd Shipyards i Hans K. Schaefer Following a recent board of di- rectors meeting, J.T. Gilbride, chairman and chief executive of- ficer of Todd Shipyards Corpora- tion, announced that on July 15, 1981, Hans K. Schaefer will as- sume the presidency of the cor- poration, succeeding Arthur W. Stout Jr., who is taking early re- tirement. Mr. Schaefer is pres- ently vice president of the sub- sidiary, Todd Pacific Shipyards Corporation, and general man- ager of the Los Angeles Division. He joined Todd in 1968 and has served in increasingly important positions in ship construction in New York, Seattle, and Los An- geles. Mr. Gilbride stated that while it was Mr. Stout's desire to spend more time attending to personal matters, he would remain a mem- ber of the board of directors, and his experience and expertise would be available for valuable assistance on many corporate matters. Mr. Schaefer has had a dis- tinguished career in shipbuilding. Born in Hamburg, Germany, he served his apprenticeship at the Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft Shipyard in Hamburg, attending the Marine Engineering College concurrently, and in 1955 was awarded a degree in marine en- gineering. Emigrating to Canada in 1956, he worked successively at the Davie Shipbuilding Com- pany, Quebec, Saint John Ship- building and Dry Dock Company, New Brunswick, and Canadian Vickers Ltd. in Montreal. In each he progressed to more responsi- ble positions and at the same time continued his studies in na- val architecture, applied electron- ics, and business management. Mr. Gilbride stated that Mr. Schaefer's promotion is consist- ent with the corporation's plans to advance proven young man- agers to senior positions to pro- vide long-term stable executive continuity. He, along with four incumbents, will be offered as management candidates for the board of directors at the annual meeting of shareholders to be held July 15. Lennart M. Thorell, presently assistant general manager, will succeed Mr. Schaefer as general manager of the Los Angeles Di- vision on July 15.
