Literature Available From Elliott Co. On High-Speed Gears A bulletin describing high-speed gears for pump, compressor, and fan manufacturers has been pub- lished by Elliott Company, a divi- sion of Carrier Corporation, Jean- nette, Pa. The bulletin is entitled "Elliott High-Speed Gears," and outlines 13 design features of the gear case. These include compact design, double-helical gear and pinion, liner-type bearings, dy- namically balanced gear and pin- ion, increased efficiency of driven and driving equipment, rated per AGMA 421.06, quiet operation and a vibration guarantee of 2 mils below 4,500 r/min, and 1.5 mils above 4,500 r/min. A chart includes material spe- cifications for gear case, gear wheel assembly, pinion/shaft, and bearings. A section discusses pri- mary parts, including precision hobbed gears and pinions, liner- so much in so many places. Radio facsimile receivers feature push-button station selection and nigh-contrast 12-inch recording. Raytheon gives you a choice. Mandella Bruce F. Mandella has been appointed senior project manager for Dravo Corporation's Engi- neering Works Division. He will oversee all project managers, proj- ect coordinators, and field person- nel who are responsible for the division's materials-handling con- tracts. Mr. Mandella has served in var- ious project managing/design en- gineering positions since joining Dravo in 1968. Dravo's Engineering Works Di- vision provides a broad range of products and services including towboats and barges, bulk mate- rials handling systems and equip- ment, as well as specialized heavy- duty process equipment and ma- chinery. Two New Appointments At Foss Alaska Line Lael Prock has been named op- erations manager, and Theo Mc- Culloch sales manager for Foss Alaska Line (FAL), a division of Dillingham Maritime. The an- nouncement was made by T.V. Van Dawark, FAL vice president and general manager. Mr. Prock will assume overall operational responsibility for FAL's services to southeast Alas- ka, Alaska Peninsula/Aleutian Is- lands, and western Alaska. Prior to his recent appointment, he served as FAL manager of sales. With Dillingham Maritime for 14 years, he has spent the past eight years with FAL in Seattle.
