Carroll Named Manager- Manufacturing Projects At Rockwell International W.J. Carroll has been appointed manager - Manufacturing Pro j ects for Rockwell International's Flow Control Division, Pittsburgh, Pa., reporting to R.A. Carlson, direc- tor-Manufacturing Operations. In this position, Mr. Carroll will be responsible for manufacturing projects, including capital expend- iture programs, cost improvement and capacity planning. Mr. Car- roll was previously assigned to Rockwell International's Corpo- rate Office as a senior auditor. Morgan To Head Ship Performance Dept., Taylor Research Center y \ jbr1 Dr. William B. Morgan Dr. William B. Morgan, ship hydrodynamicist and internation- al authority on the theory and de- sign of all types of propellers, cavitation, and propeller noise, has been named Associate Tech- nical Director for Ship Perform- ance, and Head of the Ship Per- formance Department of the Da- vid W. Taylor Naval Ship R&D Center (DTNSRDC), Bethesda, Md. Dr. Morgan has been with the Center for 29 years, starting in 1951 as a hydraulic engineer in the Propeller Branch of the (then) David Taylor Model Basin (DTMB). He has served as Act- ing Head of the Ship Perform- ance Department since January 1979, following the retirement of Dr. William Cummins. He is a member of the Interna- tional Towing Tank Conference, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, and The American Society of Na- val Engineers. Dr. Morgan has received nu- merous awards including the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (US- MMA) Award for Outstanding Professional Achievement, and USMMA Marine Man of the Year; the Navy Meritorius Civilian Serv- ice Award; the David Taylor Award for Scientific Achieve- ment; the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award; and Recognition of Achievement, Senior Executive Award.
