Bremer Vulkan Names T.A.S.T. Corp. Exclusive U.S. Representatives Bremer Vulkan Schiffbau Und Maschinenfabrik, located in Bre- men, Germany, has announced the appointment of the T.A.S.T. Cor- poration, International Marine Representatives, of 5 Farmstead Road, North Caldwell, N.J. 07006, as their exclusive U.S. represent- ative for ship construction and repair. Alfred E. Stanford, president of T.A.S.T. Corporation, has over 25 years' diversified experience in the marine industry, 10 years of which have been spent in Europe, and his knowledge of the method of new construction and repair makes this representation very appropriate. Mr. Stanford is a graduate from the State University of New York Maritime College in 1950, with a B.M.S. degree. He is a chartered engineer, a member of The Soci- ety of Naval Architects and Ma- rine Engineers, a fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers, and a fellow of the Royal Insti- tution of Naval Architects. Mr. Stanford is also president of Environmental Safety Associ- ates, Inc. Since its beginning in 1805, then known as the Johann Lang Shipyard, Bremer Vulkan have constructed over 1,300 vessels, including ULCC's, container car- riers and all types of vessels for the general cargo trade. In addi- tion to many large-scale conver- sions, numerous individual ma- chinery plants have been success- fully carried out. Alfred E. Under this agree- ment, BJCo will market the OK coupling to both marine and in- dustrial concerns. The OK-HB coupling will be made available to suit shaft di- ameters ranging from 25 mm to 1,000 mm. This translates into a torque transmission capacity of 258 ft./lbs. to 19,177,600 ft./lbs. In addition to the HB type, Bird- Johnson will also introduce two new OK couplings to the U.S. These are the OK/flange combi- nation coupling and the industrial OKL coupling. Each is engineered to meet industry standards, and is approved by international clas- sification societies.
