Names Robert Napier Operations Director The Honorable Robert A. Napi- er has been appointed director of operations and marine administra- tion, Ocean Fleets Limited, Liver- pool, England. He succeeds Capt. John Smallwood, who retired from the company at the beginning of April. Ocean Fleets is a member Mitsui Delivers Super-High-Speed Containership of the Ocean Group. Mr. Napier joined Ocean Trans- port & Trading Limited (formerly The Ocean Steam Ship Co. Ltd.) as a trainee manager in 1966. Tiedemann & Company, New York, N.Y., has announced that at a recent meeting of the board of directors, Immo-R Nord- strom was elected vice president- administration and Albert G. Mag- gio was elected assistant vice presi- dent in charge of production. Mr. Nordstrom joined Tiede- mann & Co. last July and was pre- viously a partner in the firm of Cushing & Nordstrom. Mr. Nord- strom is a graduate of Hanover Technische Hochschule, Germany; Tekniska Laroverket, Finland, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Maggio has been an em- ployee of Tiedemann & Co. for nine years and has taken an active part in the overall administrative and production functions of the com- pany since assuming the position of office manager and manager of design and drafting some years ago. Before joining Tiedemann & Co., Mr. Maggio was a senior de- signer and draftsman with M. Rosenblatt & Son, Inc. The 37,800 - gt super - high - speed containership New Jersey Maru was recently completed at the Tamano Works of Mitsui Shipbuilding & En- gineering Co., Ltd., and delivered to her owner, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd. The vessel is designed to carry 1,887 containers (including 79 refrig- erator containers) at super - high- speed. A twin-engine twin-screw pro- pulsion system with a total output of 69,600 bhp by two Mitsui B&W diesel engines develops a service speed of 26.75 knots, with a maximum trial speed of 29.94 knots. The new con- tainership has a complement of 35 persons. The approximate measurements are: length overall, 864 feet, molded breadth, 106 feet, and molded depth, 65 feet.
