ROlAEfi Oppama shipyard installed computer controlled machinery on a large scale to improve work quality, speed production and to save on labour. This NC cutting machine, for example, is equipped with four torch blocks that cut round or angular shapes in one stroke. A multiple plate-cutting machine with ten cutting torches cuts or bores holes in ten different workpieces at one time. These and other NC machines reduce man- hours in mold-loft work and produce highly precise material for use in the subassembly shops.
