The intent of the license was to transfer the REMUS Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology out of the academic development environment and into the commercial market- place, making the technology available to a wide array of users. This transition has proven to be a remarkable success. Over the past several years, Hydroid has taken the REMUS product and technology to a new level, providing world- class sales, service and support to an ever-increasing cus- tomer base. There are approximately 100 REMUS vehicles in operation around the globe, serving customers within the military, scientific, and commercial market segments. Hydroid maintains a full service production and test facili- ty, staffed by a skilled and experienced group of individuals committed to the customers' ultimate success. All products are designed and built to meet a rigorous quality standard, and all products are fully documented and designed for large production runs, thus ensuring a repeatable, high quality product. Hydroid also offers customers a comprehensive, easy to follow training seminar, which ensures that users gain a full understanding of their REMUS vehicle's capabilities, data collection and analysis, and service requirements. Hydroid's customer service department is well-versed and readily available to assist customers in all aspects of opera- tion throughout the life of the vehicle.
