Collaboration Several different specialist companies fi rst needed to come together, each with experience to be considered so as to ensure the best solution for each vessel. The owner, shipbuilder, naval architect, local integrator and the HVAC supplier were all involved in the exchange of ideas about the selection and installation of the most suitable HVAC equipment and its placement on the vessel to guarantee the most effective air distribution. In this case, they chose Do- metic. Over time, Dometic Marine has distilled the col- laborative strategy into a productive and effi cient process. Ed Todd, Director of National OEM Sales, Dometic Marine, told MarineNews, “Our strength is our ability and willingness to work with the various parties through ev- ery stage of the process, demonstrating Dometic’s personal touch and dedication from start to fi nish. We are prepared to adapt and customize our HVAC equipment to best suit our customer and each particular vessel.” From the start of the build, to launch and beyond, Do- metic insists that its personnel are always on hand to pro- vide input. By visiting the yard on numerous occasions during the construction, the account manager is able to reconfi gure equipment, make adjustments and react to questions. The relationship continues after the vessel is launched, with continual check-ups and requests for feed- back on the performance of the equipment. Todd adds, “Through close collaboration with our customers, we are able to develop HVAC and sanitation equipment to satisfy exact vessel specifi cations, which has led to the growth of our workboat customer base globally. The current contract with the Signet Maritime tugs is a good example of fi ve companies working together success- fully.” Specifi cally for this project, Dometic was able to use its specialized knowledge of this type of vessel gained from a recent contract with Signet to supply the equipment for 2012 Trinity Offshore shipyard-built tugs Signet Stars & Stripes and Signet Constellation. As well as providing its cutting-edge air conditioning for the living areas on board, Dometic is also supplying engine cooling equipment for HVAC www.marinelink.com MN 43 MN May14 Layout 32-49.indd 43 4/21/2014 10:33:12 AM
