Joint Venture Agreement For
Halter Marine, Inc. And
Bollinger Shipyards
Responding to the anticipated
request for proposals for the U.S.
Coast Guard's (USCG) Deepwater
Capability Replacement Project,
Halter Marine, Inc., a subsidiary
of Halter Marine Group, Inc., and
Bollinger Shipyards have agreed
in principle to form a joint venture
to be named Halter-Bollinger. The
USCG's program, expected to run
into several billions of dollars over
the next two decades, is being
designed to replace or upgrade the
USCG's aging fleet of ships, cut-
ters, aircraft and other assets.
The preliminary agreement was
announced in a joint statement by
Halter CEO John Dane III, and
Bollinger CEO Boysie Bollinger.
According to the two company
heads, "Our two companies have
built a significant number of the
U.S. Coast Guard's and the U.S.
Navy's small to medium size ships
in the last 12 years. Our ship-
yards., with built-in production
flexibilities, specialize in the
design and construction of vessels
in the 100-ft. to 400-ft. range
which meet Coast Guard require-
ments. This will be a significant
shipbuilding program."
Umoe-Schat Harding To
Supply Lifeboats and Davits
Umoe-Schat Harding has been
contracted to supply 26 lifeboats
and davits to each of the two plus
one option RCCL Project Eagle
cruiseships building for RCCL at
Finland's Kvaerner Masa-Yard.
These reportedly will be the
world's largest cruise ships, but
sources say Schat-Harding won
the order because it was able to
supply lifeboats which are shorter
