Westport Delivers Two Ferries For
Catalina Service
Westport Shipyard, Inc.,
Westport, Wash, delivered two 100-
ft. (30-m) by 23-ft. (7-m) "Super Ex-
press II" passenger vessels to
Catalina Express Lines. The boats
were dedicated in ceremonies in
Southern California on June 6.
The boats, Catalina Express and
Islander Express, will carry 149 pas-
sengers at 32-knot speeds. Speed
and increased ride comfort resulted
from development of a new, semi-
tunnel hull form and a newly de-
signed integrated steering and sta-
bilizer system from Maritime Dy-
namics of Lexington Park, Md.
