Sealed proposals addressed to the Executive Director of the Texas
Department of Transportation, for the Construction of a New Feny
Vessel, "The Dewitt C. Greer", at the Galveston-Port Boliver Ferry,
Galveston County, can be delivered in person (or by a delivery
service) to 200 East Riverside Drive, Proposal Room 126, Austin,
Texas 78704, or can be mailed to the Executive Director, 125 East
11th Street, Room 12, File D-18B (Bid Proposal), Austin, Texas
78701-2483. Proposals will be received until 2:30 p.m.. local time.

Plans and specifications for this project will be furnished without
charge to any prime Contractor desiring to submit a bid. No pre-

The estimated over-all construction cost for this proposed contract
is $7.450.000.00.
Only a Cashier's Check or Bank Money Order on a State or National
Bank or a Cashier's Check or Money Order on a State or National
Savings and Loan Association payable to the order of the Texas
Transportation Commission is considered acceptable. This Propsal
Guaranty must be payable at or through the institution issuing the
instrument or the guaranty instrument must state that the issuing is
both the drawer and the drawee of this official obligation to pay the
amount stated. A Proposal Guaranty of drawee of One Hundred
Thousand Dollars ($100.000.00) made payable without recourse to
the order of the Texas Transportation Commission, must accompany
each proposal as a guaranty.
OPERATIONS MANAGER
SOUTH AMERICA
Supervise and coordinate vessels loading and
discharging in Brazilian ports. Instruct port agents and
stevedores in Brazilian ports; negotiate stevedoring
contracts with Brazilian stevedoring companies; instruct
vessels' Master/Officer and crew as to the execution of
the voyages; supervise/instruct PortCaptains attending
vessels' operations in Barzilian, West African and Rea
Sea Ports. Duties also include pre-planning the voyages;
calculation of best routing, planning and arranging
fueling; planning cargo stowage with vessels' command
and Port Captains; ensuring timely charter hire payments
and freight collection; arranging for funding to port
agents. Responsible for all official documentation in
Brazil, including the proper issuance of Bills of Lading,
Letters of Credit and Cargo Manifests. Check all port
disbursements and verily all expenses submitted by
Brazilian port agents. 40 hours per week. 4 years
experience in job offered or 4 years related experience
as Operations Manager forinternationalshipchartering
company involved with Brazilian shipping business.
Must be able to speak, read and write Portuguese.

SUPERINTENDENT/PORT ENGINEERS
Progressive vessel operator requires Super-
intendent/Port Engineers for commercial and
RRF sections of a Gulf Coast Operation.
Working knowledge of steam/motor deep sea
vessels required. Must have experience with
preparation of specifications and supervising
ship repairs.
Ideal candidate would have at least 3 years
experience as Port Engineer for large tonnage
oceangoing vessels and either alternatively,
minimum of 5 years seagoing experience as
Chief Engineer/First Assistant Engineer on
USCG Unlimited License, or a minimum of
5 years experience in ship repair with progres-
sive responsibilities, or a combination of
B.S. degree in Engineering plus 3 years
experience on a USCG Unlimited License,
or 10 years experience as a marine surveyor
with MARAD, MSC, USCG or ABS.
